What this result means

Your cholesterol has come down to the level we are aiming for on your current tablet. That is the tablet doing its job, and it means your risk of a heart attack or stroke is lower than it would be without it.

What we have done

Your GP has reviewed the result and recorded it. No change to your prescription is needed.

What you need to do

• Keep taking your tablet every day. The benefit only lasts while you take it.
• Book your next routine cholesterol blood test in 12 months. We will text you a reminder nearer the time.
• Keep up the things that help alongside the tablet: not smoking, staying active, less saturated fat.

When to contact us

Contact the practice if you develop new muscle pain or weakness, dark urine, or yellow skin or eyes, or if you are struggling to take the tablet regularly - a different dose or tablet can usually be found, and it is better to tell us than to stop. Chest pain at rest, or sudden face, arm or speech changes: call 999.
